Fatal car accidents: California officials investigate crash

by | Jan 27, 2016 | Car Accidents, Firm News

There are some people who enjoy a thrill. As a result, they turn to somewhat risky sports, such as racing motorcycles. Most who undertake these sports likely do so knowing that they could face injury. Because of the known risks associated with their hobby of choice, these thrill seekers may not fully anticipate the harm they could suffer in relatively safe activities due to the potential for car accidents. Unfortunately, officials in California are now investigating a fatal crash.

The deceased victim was a 22-year-old college student who also claimed to be a professional motorcycle racer. He and three other people were riding in a vehicle that crashed after running off the road early one morning in January. He died as a result of injuries he suffered in the accident.

One person was arrested in connection with the accident. A representative for the California Highway Patrol has stated that the crash remains under investigation. However, officials say that alcohol was a contributing factor in the accident.

A tragic, unexpected death often leaves surviving family members struggling with both their sense of loss as well as their financial situation. Often, car accidents can cause extreme financial hardship to families as a result of funeral costs and other expenses. If it can be proved that a person’s death was caused by negligence, grieving family members could be awarded damages by a California civil court that could help them better cope with the financial ramifications of their loss. A conversation with an experienced attorney can help families better understand their options in regards to civil litigation.
