California car accidents: Bride hospitalized days before wedding

by | Aug 11, 2015 | Car Accidents, Firm News

A couple preparing to walk down the aisle likely has many things to think about. However, car accidents are probably no where near the top of their lists of concerns. Unfortunately, one woman in California celebrating her impending nuptials and several of her bridesmaids were recently hospitalized after the limousine in which they were riding became involved in a car accident.

The accident happened in just after 8 p.m. one night in early August. A soon-to-be bride had spent the day celebrating with her bridesmaids in anticipation of her wedding. When the group was returning home, reports claim that the driver of their limo attempted to brake for vehicles stopped at a red light, but was unable to stop in time. As a result, the limo slammed into the back of another vehicle.

The force of the impact pushed the second vehicle into the third. The bride-to-be was transported to an area hospital for treatment of seven broken ribs and a collapsed  lung. Two other people reportedly suffered critical injuries. Twelve people in total were injured, nine of which were transported to various hospitals as a result of their injuries. It is unclear if any citations have been issued as a result of the accident.

While there may be some people who choose to get behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, there are also many responsible people who seek a driver to help ensure that no one is injured. Unfortunately, despite the precautions these women took, they were injured. If the accident was indeed caused by the limo driver as recent reports indicate, the injured people have the option of filing a personal injury suit in a California civil court as other victims of car accidents have done. If negligence can be proved, the injured victims could receive an award of damages to help them cope with lost wages, medical bills and pain and suffering.
