Pregnant woman killed in suspected drunk driving accident

by | Jul 31, 2014 | Drunk Driving, Firm News

A 29-year-old woman who was four-months pregnant was recently killed in a tragic car accident. The driver, her 36-year-old acquaintance, is suspected of drunk driving at the time of the crash, and he was seriously injured in the accident. Two more of the California woman’s acquaintances who were also passengers were moderately injured.

The circumstances surrounding the crash are unclear, but the driver had reportedly lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll several times. The mother, as well as her unborn son, lost their lives at the scene. The occupants of the vehicle were reportedly on their way to shop for maternity clothing for the woman.

The woman’s family was “devastated” by her crash. According to her family members, the woman was supposedly a recovering drug addict who was trying very hard to turn her life around. She was enrolled in parenting classes as well as drug and alcohol classes. She was also the mother of three children ages 13, 12 and 10. The driver of the car was on probation for a previous DUI conviction at the time of the crash, and now he has been accused of several charges, including second-degree murder and felony DUI.

The woman’s family has surely experienced a lot of anguish after hearing of the California woman’s death in the suspected drunk driving accident. Her family may choose to file a California wrongful death suit for the loss of their loved one. If successful, they could be monetarily compensated for the tragic loss that they have suffered.
