Driver blows red light and strikes 26-year-old motorcycle rider

A 26-year-old woman has been declared brain-dead following an accident in California. The April 24 motorcycle accident occurred during the afternoon while the woman was riding through an intersection.

Her motorcycle was then struck by a Honda sedan as the driver blew through a red light. The driver of the Honda was also later charged with driving while under the influence of prescription drugs.

We too often hear about senseless motorcycle accidents occurring because drivers for some reason did not yield the right-of-way. Unfortunately the failure to do so often results in disastrous consequences. Add driving while under the influence of alcohol or drugs and the chances of such an accident greatly increases.

There is no way to place a positive spin upon a 26-year-old person being catastrophically injured in this manner. Any opportunities for such an individual to live a normal life after such an accident have likely ended. None of this needed to occur if the driver had abided by the laws and not decided to get behind the wheel while under the influence of drugs.

Almost any motorcycle accident has the potential for serious injury. Riders do not have the protections available that other drivers may have.

Personal injury attorneys can help victims and their family members receive compensation to help out with various expenses. Attorneys can also investigate these matters and make certain that all responsible parties are held accountable.

We cannot take back what has happened in these accidents. Still, we can make certain that the circumstances of an accident is addressed and that family members do not have to suffer additional hardship because wages have been lost and money has been spent on medical care.
