Motorcycle accidents: 6 injured in California crash

There are many dangers that face motorcyclists in California. Because of the smaller size of their bikes, it is often difficult for motorists in more traditional vehicles to see them, especially when distracted. While many motorcycle accidents occur due to such a scenario, officials believe that a recent collision involving six motorcyclists may have been caused as a result of a deliberate act.

The incident happened at approximately 7 p.m. one evening on a day in mid-April. According to the California Highway Patrol, a group containing six motorcycles was driving at approximately 65 mph. Reports indicate that the driver of a black pickup truck swerved across several lanes of traffic, striking one of the motorcycles. The impact resulted in a chain reaction accident that ultimately involved all of the motorcyclists. Two struck a vehicle in another lane.

Of the six drivers, four required hospital hospital treatment. Two are listed in critical condition. Police say that the driver of the pickup truck did not remain at the scene. They are currently seeking information from anyone who may have witnessed the accident or have information about it.

With the amount of surveillance cameras likely available, it is probable that California police officers will be able to locate the driver of the pickup truck. While criminal charges could be filed, the victims of the accident may be facing an extensive period of recovery. Due to medical bills and lost wages, they may also face a financial struggle. Many victims of motorcycle accidents caused by the negligent acts of another choose to seek damages in a civil court. A successfully presented case could result in an award of damages that will help victims cope with the financial ramifications of their injuries.
