4 people killed in 2 separate California car accidents

by | Jun 17, 2015 | Car Accidents, Firm News

One night in California saw the loss of four people. Two separate fatal car accidents occurred within minutes of each other, potentially leaving the multiple families grieving the loss of their loved ones. The California Highway Patrol has launched an investigation into the accidents.

The first accident happened just before 12:30 a.m. one Sunday in June. A sports utility vehicle allegedly drifted on the shoulder of the road, allegedly causing the driver to lose control. The car rolled several times. Unfortunately, a passenger in the car died at the scene, and the driver and a second passenger were taken to the hospital. Their current conditions and the extent of their injuries are unclear, but authorities do believe that alcohol may have been a contributing factor.

The second accident occurred minutes after the first. Officials claim that this accident was caused by a driver of a pickup truck who attempted to take an off ramp while driving too fast. Two people died at a scene, and a third passed away after being transported to the hospital. A fourth person suffered serious injuries.

The family members of the deceased victims are likely still coming to terms with the loss of their loved ones. In the coming days, they will also have to cope with the financial consequences of the car accidents, including funeral expenses and lost wages. Many people in California who have lost a loved one due to someone else’s negligence have sought legal recourse in a civil court. A successfully presented case could result in an award of damages that would help family members in their time of grief.
