California car accidents: 3 fatalities in head-on collision

by | Jan 13, 2015 | Car Accidents, Firm News

The destructive power that humans have at times is astounding. One miscalculation or poor decision can lead to multiple car accidents, leaving families devastated and lives changed. Unfortunately, a community in California is left mourning after a recent wrong-way crash killed three young people.

The accident happened in the early morning hours of a day in January. Three friends were headed eastbound on a California road, reportedly returning from a night of dancing. Unfortunately, police say that a 24-year-old driver in a black sedan with no headlights was headed west in the eastbound lanes. The two cars collided.

All three people in the first vehicle, a 20-year-old and two 18-year-olds, died at the scene. The driver of the second car was transported to an area hospital where his condition is unclear. Although toxicology reports have not been completed, police believe that drugs and alcohol were likely a contributing factor to the accident based on evidence allegedly found in the second vehicle. Criminal charges are expected.

Many family members of the victims as well as former classmates and community members have expressed shock after learning of the death of these young people. The grief the families of the three deceased victims are likely experiencing is probably difficult for those who have not gone through a similar situation to fathom. Additional to their grief, the families may be facing financial difficulties. While it may not alleviate their mourning, many car accidents have resulted in civil litigation. If negligence can be proven, the families of these three victims might receive some financial relief in this emotionally trying time.
