Californians face devastating consequences of car accidents

by | Aug 11, 2014 | Car Accidents, Firm News

Many businesses have made the decision to go mobile. They purchase vans or detached trailers that allow them to take their business from location to location. While this may provide the business with marketing opportunities, it could cause deadly car accidents if equipment, such as detached trailers, are improperly attached. One family in California is facing this very reality after a recent car accident caused a fatality and several injuries.

The accident happened one Friday evening in early August. Reports indicate that four people — two adults and two children — were traveling in a sedan. The people in the sedan were apparently waiting to make a turn when a trailer used to make brick oven pizza detached from the van that was hauling it.

Unfortunately, the trailer slammed into the driver’s side of the sedan, causing the van to flip onto its passenger side. The driver died at the scene of the accident. The other three occupants were all transported to area hospitals for treatment; one of the children reportedly suffered serious injuries. The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the accident.

The devastation that the family of the deceased man is experiencing as they come to accept the reality of his death is likely difficult to fathom. Unfortunately, the unexpected death of a loved one can create more problems than just the emotional loss. Many car accidents can also create serious financial ramifications for families as they cope with funeral expenses, medical bills and loss of future income. As a result, many people in a similar situation, who can prove that their loved one’s death or their own personal injury was caused by another’s negligence, have chosen to seek financial relief in a civil court.
