Speed racing results in serious motorcycle accidents

Safety officials in California are still investigating the scene of a recent accident that involved two motorcycles and a car. According to the report, the accident occurred on Fair Oaks Boulevard when the driver of a four-door sedan attempted to merge onto the roadway. Investigators have reason to believe that the two motorcyclists may have been involved in a speed race. Sadly, many motorcycle accidents have been known to result from this type of activity.

The car entered the roadway just ahead of the motorcyclists. One of the motorcycle riders was unable to slow down in time and he fatally slammed into the sedan. The other motorcyclist suffered serious injuries after he exited his bike and skidded along the roadway.

Emergency personnel remained at the scene and both sides of the road were closed off for several hours while the area was cleared. According to reports, the driver of the car suffered substantial injuries. Both her and the injured motorcyclist were transported to a local medical facility.

It has yet to be officially determined if reckless driving was a contributing factor in this incident. However, there does appear to be some potential evidence that the motorcyclists may have been racing. Victims of motorcycle accidents who are injured as the result of another party's negligent actions reserve the right to file a personal injury claim in a California civil court. Monetary relief for medical and rehabilitation costs, lost wages, and pain and suffering can be the result of a successfully litigated lawsuit.
