California car accidents: Collision closes road for 4 hours

by | Aug 4, 2015 | Car Accidents, Firm News

There are many unsafe drivers in this world. Despite the measures that safe drivers take, there may be little they can do to avoid car accidents caused by negligent drivers in some circumstances. Unfortunately, three people were seriously injured in a recent California collision.

The incident occurred at approximately 8 a.m. one morning in July. Witnesses claim that one of the vehicles believed to have been involved, a black pickup truck, was weaving in and out of traffic prior to the collision. According to reports, the pickup truck crossed into traffic traveling in the opposite direction, where it allegedly struck an oncoming vehicle head on.

A passenger in the pickup truck was reportedly not using a seatbelt and was thrown from the vehicle. The passenger and both drivers were transported by helicopter to the hospital for treatment. While their injuries were described as serious, their conditions are unclear. The road was closed for approximately four hours as a result of the collision. It is unclear if criminal charges are expected at this time.

Because of this collision, the lives of three people have been strongly impacted. Even relatively minor medical treatment can result in large medical bills, and the treatment needed as a result of serious car accidents can quickly become more than a person can handle. The financial situation of many car accident victims is often complicated by lost wages as they recover. When a person is injured as a result of another’s negligence, many people choose to pursue a personal injury claim in a California civil court. If claims of negligence can be proved, the court could order an award of damages that would allow victims to focus on their recovery rather than how they will pay their bills.
