2 lives claimed in another of California's tragic car accidents

Motor vehicle accidents of any magnitude can be a frightening ordeal for the occupants involved and the family members who love them. When these car accidents result in death, there is little that can ease a family's suffering. However, any compensation gained from a successfully navigated wrongful death claim in California can ease the financial stresses that often follow the untimely death of a loved one.

For one family, the sudden loss is too much to bear after a tragic car accident claimed the lives of a young mother and her nearly 2-year-old child. The incident occurred near the Concord Naval Weapons Station when the driver of an SUV crossed the center line into oncoming traffic. The vehicle slammed head-on into the car occupied by the woman, her boyfriend and the baby girl.

The three occupants were transported to nearby medical facilities to be treated for their injuries. Unfortunately, the mother and her child succumbed to their injuries and died a short while later. Meanwhile, the driver of the SUV and three young boys who were with him at the time of the accident were also transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.

Investigators believe that alcohol was a factor in the accident, and the driver of the SUV was arrested for driving while intoxicated and child endangerment. Should the victims and the family of the deceased choose to file a personal injury or wrongful death claim, the SUV driver may be held financially responsible if appropriate evidence of negligence is produced. In California, individuals who have been involved in similar car accidents (or the surviving families of those who lost their lives) retain the right to seek financial compensation to assist with monetary damages they suffered at the hands of a drunk driver.
